Capture Instructions
The standard method. Recording the Tracer Tone gives the most versatile
model, because it covers the full range of what your gear does rather
than only what you happened to play.
Dial in exactly the tone you want to capture. Every setting on the amp,
pedals and outboard gear should be where you want it, because the model
captures that state and nothing else.
3
Play the Tracer Tone through it
Load the file onto a track in your DAW, route it through your signal
chain, and record the output to a second track. Leave levels alone once
recording starts, and don't touch a knob mid-take.
4
Export the recording
24-bit, 48 kHz, mono WAV. Keep a few dB of headroom, anything
clipped will be rejected before training starts.
5
Upload it
Drop it in above, name the capture, and start training.
Use this when you already have a dry DI and the same performance recorded
through your gear. Both files must be the same take.
1
Start from a dry DI
At least two minutes, and varied, chords, single notes, quiet and
loud. A model can only learn what it has heard, so a narrow performance
makes a narrow capture.
2
Reamp that exact file
Send the same DI through your gear in one pass and record the result.
Don't re-perform it, the two files have to correspond sample for
sample.
3
Line them up
Trim both to the same start and end. Interface latency can push the wet
file out by a few milliseconds; if your DAW hasn't compensated for it,
the capture will train but won't sound right.
4
Export both
24-bit, 48 kHz, mono WAV, identical length.
5
Upload the pair
Switch to Dry + Wet Pair above and drop both files in.
No files and no DAW. The page listens to your dry playing and your
processed sound at the same time and uses both to make the capture.
Needs an interface running at 48 kHz with the two signals on separate
channels.
1
Plug in
Your DI into one input on your interface, and the signal coming
back from your amp, pedal or rig into another.
2
Connect the interface
Choose your device, then tell the page which channel is the DI and
which is the processed sound. Both meters should move as you
play.
3
Set your levels
Play as hard as you are going to and aim for the top of the meter
without lighting the red. Recording quietly carries the noise
floor into the capture; clipping cannot be undone afterwards.
4
Play for two minutes
Follow the prompts as you play chords, palm mutes, single notes,
and dynamics from soft to loud. A model can only learn what it
has heard, so a narrow performance makes a narrow capture.

Training starts automatically
Recording stops on its own when the time is up and training begins
in the cloud. You can close the page and keep using your computer
while it finishes.
Upload recordings of the Tracer Tone played through your gear. Each WAV
file will create a separate capture.
